Ruger RXM 9mm 4" 15rd Pistol

The RXM is Ruger's collaboration with Magpul, and the architecture is the interesting part. The serialized component is a steel fire control insert that lifts out of the grip frame, which means the polymer frame wrapped around it is a replaceable part rather than the gun itself. Magpul designed that frame, and moving to a different size, texture or color is a takedown and a few minutes of work rather than a trip to a dealer.

The rest is deliberately conventional, in the best sense. The slide, barrel and magazines follow the Glock 19 pattern, so holsters, sights and magazines from the largest handgun accessory ecosystem in existence fit without adapters. Chambered in 9mm with a 15rd magazine, it lands in the same size class as a compact duty pistol, which is the size most people carry and most people shoot best. The slide is cut for a micro red dot, the sights are steel rather than plastic, and the trigger is flat faced. Ruger built the RXM around modularity, and Magpul's work on the frame means the grip texture and shape land closer to an aftermarket frame than a factory one.
