The Rossi LWC (Lightweight Carbine) in 5.56 NATO is a break action single shot rifle that keeps things simple. One round goes in, the action closes, you cock the hammer and shoot. Because it is a 5.56 NATO chamber it also handles 223 Rem, which makes ammo easy to find and cheap to practice with. The 16.5" barrel is threaded, so a suppressor or muzzle device is a quick addition.
There are no iron sights on this rifle. A Picatinny rail on the receiver is there for a red dot or a scope, and a light varmint scope makes this a handy coyote and groundhog gun. The frame is steel with a polymer overmold, the fixed stock is black synthetic, and the whole rifle weighs about 5.24 lbs. A crossbolt safety and a transfer bar are built in. It is an easy rifle to teach a new shooter on, a light gun to carry on the back forty, and a cheap way to put a centerfire in the truck.
