Retay pitches the RXP22 as a training pistol and the pitch holds up. The barrel is a chrome finished steel unit that Retay deep bore drills rather than hammer forges, a process aimed at straightness and consistent bore dimensions, and the muzzle comes threaded so a rimfire can or a compensator threads straight on.

Two magazines come in the box, one 13rd and one 18rd, which covers both a flush fit option and a longer one without a second purchase. The action is DA/SA with a hammer, so the first shot is a long deliberate press and every shot after it runs single action - the same manual of arms a CZ or a Sig shooter already knows, which is exactly the point of a trainer.
