Retay ACE-R Upland Ultralight 12 GA 24" 3rd Walnut Shotgun

The ACE-R is the receiver variant of Retay's ACE, and this one pairs it with a 24 inch barrel in 12 gauge. Short barrels get a bad name on shotguns, but in grouse woods and on quail, where the shot comes fast and close, a shorter tube gets the muzzle around a branch and onto the bird before a longer one has finished moving. The gun weighs about 6 pounds 3 ounces, light enough to carry on a strap all day without thinking about it.

Underneath, it is the same straight line inertia action Retay uses across the ACE family, with the patented Inertia Plus bolt rollover torsion spring doing the unlocking. Inertia guns run dry and clean, and there is no gas system to take apart at the end of a wet week. The trigger group comes out at the push of a button and the oversized safety reverses for left handed shooters. The barrel is deep bore drilled with a single fiber optic bead at the muzzle. Chambered for shells up to 3 inches with a 3 round magazine, the ACE-R takes five flush chokes covering cylinder, improved cylinder, modified, improved modified, and full. Wood is AA grade satin walnut cut to a 14.5 inch length of pull, with a shim kit to set drop and cast at the stock head.
