Overall length drops enough that the rifle stops catching on brush and starts fitting in a truck, and 308 loses less to a short barrel than most of the cartridges people try to run this way.

The action is a Zermatt Arms Origin, the trigger a TriggerTech, and the bottom metal is Hawkins Precision BDL cut to the M5 inlet, feeding from a four round magazine. The receiver is black with a picatinny rail already mounted, so glass goes on without hunting for bases, and the fixed carbon fiber stock is finished in tactical flat dark earth.
