Proof Research Elevation 2.0 300 PRC 20" Midnight Rifle

This is the shorter of the two 300 PRC builds in the Elevation 2.0 line, running a 20 inch barrel with a Midnight finish. Twenty inches on a magnum used to be heresy. It is now common, partly because suppressors added length back to every rifle they touched, and partly because chronograph data killed the old assumption that a magnum needs 26 inches to be worth owning. You lose some velocity. You gain a rifle that comes out of a scabbard cleanly, balances between the hands instead of hanging off the front, and points fast when an animal steps out closer than planned.

The cartridge does the heavy lifting. 300 PRC uses a beltless case with a steep shoulder and a long throat so heavy, aerodynamic 30 caliber bullets can sit out where they belong instead of eating powder space. That geometry is why it holds velocity and bucks wind better than older belted magnums loaded to the same pressures. Paired with a 20 inch barrel it makes a compact magnum for open country hunting and steel at distance. It is far easier to live with in a scabbard or across a saddle than the 26 inch magnums that used to own this job.
