The Primary Arms SLXC 4-16x44 pairs a 4x low end with a 16x top end, which is the range most precision oriented rifles actually live in. Four power leaves enough field of view to find a target and follow movement, and 16x is enough magnification to hold on small aiming points at distance without the eye box turning punishing. Between those two numbers sits the bulk of practical rifle shooting.
The 44mm objective is a middle ground choice. It gathers noticeably more light than a 40mm objective at the top of the magnification range, but it does not force the tall rings a 50mm or 56mm objective demands, so the scope can be mounted low enough for a comfortable cheek weld on a standard stock.
