The Pietta Great Western II The Shootist pays tribute to the Great Western Arms revolvers that were presented to John Wayne and that he chose for his character, the dying gunfighter John Bernard Books, in his last film, The Shootist. Pietta recreates that look with a laser engraved, all blued barrel and cylinder set against one piece Ultra Ivory grips that make the engraving show up even more.

This version is chambered in 45 Colt with a 4.75" barrel and a six round cylinder. The 4.75" length is the classic gunfighter setup: short enough to clear leather quickly, long enough to give a usable sight picture at the range. The Ultra Ivory grips are made to imitate aged ivory, so the shade varies from gun to gun, running from stark white to a warmer off white. No two look exactly the same. It is a traditional 1873 pattern single action, so you cock the hammer for every shot, and it is as much at home on a belt at a cowboy match as it is in a display case next to a Duke poster. Fans of Wayne's westerns will recognize it the moment they see it.
