About the Pietta 1873 Great Western

Pietta builds the 1873 Great Western II as a working copy of the revolver that shows up in every western ever filmed, and the Pendleton Round-Up edition dresses one for the rodeo. The bucking horse, the Let'er Buck tagline and the rodeo disciplines are engraved across the gun, and the engraving carries onto the ultra black grip instead of stopping at the frame. The barrel and cylinder are blued under the artwork. The hammer sits out in the open where a single action hammer belongs.

Underneath the decoration it is a plain 357 Mag six shooter with a 4.75" barrel, which is the length most single action shooters land on because it clears leather quickly and still balances in the hand. Load through the gate, cock the hammer, drop the hammer, repeat. A 357 chamber also lets you run 38 Special, so practice stays cheap and the recoil stays mild for anyone still learning the manual of arms on a Colt pattern gun. It shoots well enough for cowboy matches and looks like something that belongs on a wall between them.
