The LMT MRP-L Shovelnose is a monolithic upper: the receiver and the 11.5 inch M-LOK handguard are made from a single piece of aluminum. The barrel locks in with two bolts on the right side of the receiver and a T-30 Torx bit. It does not come with a barrel and accepts only LMT MRP monolithic barrels.
LMT built the Shovelnose for shooters running LMT piston barrels who want more room for accessories. The larger inside diameter lets you pull or install a barrel without stripping M-LOK add-ons first. LMT rates it for 5.56x45, 300 BLK and 350 Legend barrels, and it fits the LMT MARS-L platform.
