The Mossberg SA-28 Turkey is the 28 gauge version of the SA family, set up specifically for spring turkey hunters who want a light-recoiling, fast-pointing semi-auto in a sub-gauge. Modern TSS turkey loads in 28 gauge pattern as tightly as 12-gauge lead loads out to 40 yards, and the SA-28 delivers those loads through a 22" vent-rib barrel with an extended turkey choke. Full Mossy Oak Greenleaf camo across the stock, forend, and barrel breaks up the gun's outline against leafy spring backdrops.
The SA-28 runs a gas-operated semi-auto action that cycles 2 3/4" shells reliably and soaks up recoil noticeably better than a pump or break-action in the same gauge. Features include a fiber optic front bead, drilled and tapped receiver for optics mounting, and a Picatinny rail option on some variants for red dots. The synthetic stock is lighter than the wood-stocked SA-28 bird variants and the rubber recoil pad keeps what little recoil 28 gauge generates from being punishing. Capacity is four in the tube. A serious sub-gauge turkey gun that won't tire young or recoil-sensitive hunters on long mornings.
