LIMITED EDITION: GBRS GROUP X COBALT KINETICS 11.5″ CK-PRO FEATURES

GBRS AOR 1 LIMITED EDITION COLOR

Ready to stand up to the toughest conditions, the GBRS AOR1 Digicam Cerakote is limited to Project Poseidon.

COBALT KINETICS BARREL

These carbines will also be the first to feature the Cobalt Kinetics “Executive” barrel line. These barrels are designed by us (made to our exacting specs) and manufactured within a top-tier level facility. Each barrel will be made from 416R Stainless Steel, and Nickel Carbon Fiber wrapped. The Poseidon will come with the 11.5″ Cobalt Executive (Stainless/ Carbon Fiber) barrel. These are a Limited-Run series/ GBRS Group X Shooting Surplus web exclusive!

COBALT KINETICS A5/CK BUFFER SYSTEM

The Cobalt Kinetics/ VLTOR A5-CK buffer system is a joint collaboration between both visionary brands in hopes of evolving the current A5 system to an even smoother recoil mitigation system. The raised “anti-tilt” feature on the A5 buffer came into reality from a specific request that we made. Our engineering team noticed that even though carrier tilt is mainly an issue that plagues gas piston systems, carrier/ buffer cavitation is still commonplace in gas impingement systems. We decided to focus our joint design efforts on that to help reduce any unnecessary movement that comes from the “flat on flat” relationship that the carrier and traditional buffers have. The end result is a smoother running version of the A5 system, and a superior buffer system (when compared to dated carbine buffer systems).

COBALT KINETICS S.I.M.S. SYSTEM

We started by focusing our attention on the upper receiver group and redesigning our platforms to incorporate a better locking system for the barrel and hand guard. The result of our design efforts produced a reverse threaded barrel nut that seats the barrel evenly and provides more thread engagement than traditional externally threaded receiver extensions. The barrel extension seating surface is able to be machined to a tighter tolerance as a result of the reverse threaded system and allows the barrel to use 100% of its potential accuracy (that would normally be diminished by Mil-Spec receiver extensions that have high-spots). The free-floated hand guard is then affixed to the upper receiver via a 4 point (8 screw) mounting system that attaches right to the extended portion of the upper (which houses the new barrel nut). This creates a complete upper receiver system that will produce accurate results time after time. It also offers the best features of a mono-lithic upper receiver group without the drawbacks of the traditional examples found in the market.

GBRS HYDRA MOUNT

HYDRA is the first dual optic mount designed for end-users that offers a 2.91″ Optic Centerline for faster target ID, regardless of gear/ equipment obstructions, ie. EarPro/Comms headsets, Gas masks/ CBRN, and Night vision use. A higher Optic allows for a more athletic posture and “Heads up” attitude that enables the end-users to maintain a vertical spine which translates to body armor or “presenting plates” to the threat. This “Heads up” style allows for faster processing speed and increased situational awareness.

GEISSELE SD-E TRIGGER

The Geissele Super Dynamic-Enhanced (SD-E) Trigger featuring an exclusive flat trigger bow, is a finely-tuned two stage trigger providing enhanced trigger control and weapon accuracy while maintaining the robustness and reliability of our combat-proven two-stage trigger.

COBALT KINETICS RCB MUZZLE DEVICE

The RCB family is Cobalt Kinetics solution to solve excessive side blast/ concussion out of large port brakes. Our approach was a simple one, to control the expanding gasses exiting the gun so that they can be used to aid in quicker follow up shots. We accomplished this by designing a port system that optimizes the available gasses without bringing about un-necessary turbulence/ concussive energy back to the shooter. The result is an eloquent solution that; controls muzzle climb, helps improve split times on follow up shots, and kills excessive muzzle flash. The finest attention to detail was also paid to the material selection, coatings, and tolerances on these units to provide the best possible option for your recoil mitigation needs.

GBRS VALKYRIE CHEEK RISER

The Valkyrie Cheek Riser was designed to work in conjunction with the CTR and MOE Magpul stocks. The Valkyrie comes in three heights to fit the shooter’s specific height and desired touch point while still able to utilize the charging handle with the butt stock fully collapsed in order to still be able to perform malfunction drills.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES:

Cobalt N/A Gas Block
Cobalt BCG
Cobalt Designed Ambi Controls
B5 Systems Pistol Grip

Henry Repeating Arms: Homseteader 9mm - A Modern Classic? Maybe…
Henry Repeating Arms: Homseteader 9mm - A Modern Classic? Maybe…

Henry Repeating Arms is one of the OG’s of the gun world. For those who aren’t aware, just do a quick google search on them and learn you somethin’; we don’t have time for that right now. Despite being one of the first, I’ve never personally been drawn to them, or really liked them at all for that matter. There are pro’s and cons to all of the “original” and “traditional” companies but I’ve always just preferred a Winchester. This year though, Henry may have pleasantly surprised me and persuaded me to finally buy one of their products.

Henry unveiled the Homesteader this year at SHOT show and while some people may be entirely indifferent to this modern model with some classic flare, I think it was a great move by Henry and I personally hope to see some of the OG companies like Winchester and S&W and Remington make an effort to potentially follow suit.

The Homesteader is a 9mm direct gas blowback pistol caliber carbine designed to be a small utility item. Ranch gun, truck gun, home defense; pick your poison. What’s refreshing about the Homesteader though, aside from its quirky traditional name, is that it’s not another AR platform, or really anything of the sort. The Homesteader looks like something you saw in a black and white photo of your grandfather showing off the fruits of a rabbit hunt. Sporting a beautiful, traditional, American Walnut stock and basic bluing on the receiver and barrel, the only noticeable modern touches are the side-swappable charging handle and the Glock mag sticking out from its undercarriage.

With a barrel length of 16.37 inches, there’s no worry about NFA restrictions or having to purchase as a pistol or anything like that. Being that it’s designed with a fixed wooden stock and no pistol grip as opposed to being another AR, you don’t have to worry about restrictions on AR’s in your state. It’s the same as peepaw’s hunting rifle. The Homesteader comes drilled and tapped to accept a Weaver 63B picatinny rail so you’re able to mount all your favorite modern optics and fixin’s up top. It’s also threaded to ½” - 28 to allow you to slap on your favorite muzzle device and/or suppressor. You can purchase the Homesteader with Henry magazines, or choose an adapter for Glock mags or Sig and S&W mags. This gives you the ability to potentially shoot it with whatever mags you already own for your pistol.

The Henry Homesteader, for me, was a nice, refreshing addition to see this year amongst all the different types of AR’s and high speed tacticool guns and accessories flooding the market. A tasteful ode to how things used to be, in a world that sometimes feels lost on us. Coming in at right around $900 retail, it seems like it may be a little steep for such a basic, direct blowback 9mm carbine, but too steep to stop me from trying to get one? We’ll have to just wait and see I suppose.
