Leupold MX-6HD 8-48x60mm PR-2 Spotting Scope FDE

The MX-6HD is a first focal plane spotting scope, which is an unusual thing to say about a spotter and is the whole point of this one. A reticle that scales with magnification means the PR-2 can be used to call a correction at any power rather than at one calibrated setting, so the spotter hands the shooter a number instead of a guess.

Leupold folded the light path to keep the body short and built it out of magnesium to hold the weight down, which is how an 8-48x60 ends up packable instead of being the thing you leave in the truck. The flat dark earth finish suits glass that sits out in the open behind a spotter. This is a spotting scope aimed at people calling impacts, scanning terrain and identifying targets at distance, not at admiring scenery from a cabin porch.
