About the Kimber 84M Open Country
The Kimber Open Country is built around the M84 action with a Mauser style two lug extractor and a match grade chamber. The barrel is a heavy contour cut to 24" and fluted down its length, which sheds some of the weight a heavy barrel costs you while keeping the stiffness that made you want one. The muzzle is threaded 5/8-24, the common pattern for 30 caliber brakes and suppressor mounts, so a can goes on without a gunsmith visit.
The stock is reinforced carbon fiber rather than injection molded polymer, so the rifle stays light without the flex that makes a cheap stock touch the barrel when you load a bipod. In 308 Win with a 24" barrel this is a rifle set up to be carried in open country and then shot at whatever distance the country opens to.
