About the Kimber 1911 DS Warrior
Kimber's 1911 DS Warrior takes the company's 1911 work and puts it on a double stack frame. The result is an 18 round 10mm on a platform that historically held eight. The 5" bushing barrel is crowned, the slide is cut for an optic under a TAG cover plate, and the front sight is a night sight. Kimber hand fits each one, which is the part that separates it from the mass produced high capacity 1911s crowding this segment.
Ten millimeter is the reason to pick this over a 45. It is the flattest shooting cartridge that still fits a 1911 sized frame, which is why it keeps turning up on hunting sidearm lists and in trail guns. The frame is black stainless steel with a beavertail and a Picatinny rail up front, and the grip is a carbon fiber panel that keeps weight off a gun that is already heavy. Controls include an ambidextrous thumb safety and a match grade trigger. Two magazines come with the pistol, one 15 round and one 18 round, along with a C&H mount for RMR pattern optics. Between the rail, the optic cut and the round count, the DS Warrior works as a field gun and a house gun without changing anything.
