About the KGM R556A2 5.56 NATO
KGM designed the R556A2 against SOCOM's requirements for full auto fire, accuracy and repeatability, which is a higher bar than most commercial 5.56 cans are asked to clear. It works across the whole range of 5.56 barrel lengths and stays civil on 10.5" and 11.5" short barrels, where blast and back pressure usually get ugly. Since summer 2024 the bore has been EDM cut open to clear 6mm projectiles, so 6mm ARC hosts are covered as well.
The minimized back pressure design manages gas flow through the can instead of restricting it, which keeps bolt speed and receiver gas closer to what the rifle sees unsuppressed. Pulling that flow off the bullet's path is what protects precision, and the same routing knocks down flash, recoil and sound. Mounting is quick detach over a 1/2-28 flash hider, so it comes on and off a duty rifle without tools.
