Howa M1500 Fence Line 243 Win 22" Scorched Earth Camo Rifle

Ask a hundred hunters what a new shooter should start with and 243 Win comes up more than anything else. The recoil will not teach anybody to flinch, the trajectory is flat enough that holdover guessing mostly disappears inside 300 yards, and it does honest work on deer and coyotes alike. Howa hangs that cartridge on a 22" hammer forged barrel with a threaded muzzle, finishes the barreled action in Flat Dark Earth Cerakote, and drops it into a fixed synthetic stock wearing Scorched Earth Camo.

The Howa 1500 action has been in production since 1979 and the company still backs it with an accuracy guarantee of 1" or better at 100 yards. The HACT two stage trigger takes up light and breaks clean, so nobody needs to go looking for a replacement before the barrel is even broken in. Bolt lift is 90 degrees on dual locking lugs, and a spring loaded M16 style extractor pulls the case whether it wants to come or not. The three position safety lets you unload with the safety still engaged, or lock the bolt shut for a rough ride. The receiver comes drilled and tapped, so mounting glass is a bases and rings decision rather than a gunsmithing project.
