Buffalo Bore loads this 124gr jacketed hollow point to +P pressure and gets 1225 fps out of it, roughly 100 to 150 fps over the usual factory 9mm defense round. That extra speed is what drives the hollow point open reliably after it has to punch through heavy clothing first.
The powder is flash suppressed, and that matters more than most people account for. The large majority of defensive shootings happen in low light, and a fireball at the muzzle costs you your night vision at the worst possible moment.
