6mm Creedmoor started as a match round. Competitors necked the 6.5 Creedmoor case down to .243 looking for less recoil and a flatter line to steel, the ammunition makers noticed how many people were doing it, and now it sits on shelves next to its parent case. It kicks less than a 6.5, shoots flatter inside normal distances, and lets a shooter stay in the scope and watch what the bullet did.

That behaviour translates well to hunting.
