About the Colt M4 5.56 NATO
The M4 Braced Pistol is Colt's answer for the customer who wants a 6920 in a package that fits behind a truck seat. It uses the same forged aluminum upper and lower receivers as Colt's duty carbines, the same direct impingement gas system, and the same chrome lined barrel treatment, shortened to 10.3" and fitted with an SB Tactical SBA5 brace on a six position extension.
The handguard is Colt's free float M-LOK rail with a full length Picatinny top and seven M-LOK positions around the tube, plus integrated steel QD sling sockets and anti rotation tabs. A Magpul K2 grip, an ambidextrous selector, and a mil spec chrome lined bolt carrier group cover the controls and the internals. A 30 round PMAG comes with it. At 10.3" the 5.56 gives up velocity against a carbine barrel and gets noticeably louder, which is why most owners of these guns end up shopping for a suppressor sooner rather than later. What you get in exchange is a gun that handles like a submachine gun and feeds on the same magazines, optics, and parts as every other AR-15 in the safe.
