Colt King Cobra Target 22 LR 4.25" Revolver

Colt put the King Cobra name back on a double action revolver, and the Target version in 22 LR is the one that gets shot the most. A rimfire revolver earns its keep in a way a centerfire one cannot: you can run a hundred rounds through it in an afternoon without thinking twice about it, and every one of those trigger pulls builds the same habits a bigger revolver asks for. The 4.25 inch barrel is long enough to shoot honestly at 25 yards while keeping the gun quick to swing between targets.

It runs double action for a long, rolling pull and single action when you cock the hammer for a short, light break, so the same revolver covers deliberate slow fire and fast double action practice. There is no recoil to speak of in 22 LR, which makes this a good revolver to hand to a new shooter and a good one for working on trigger control without a flinch creeping in. Rimfire revolvers also do not care about rimlock or feeding issues the way a rimfire pistol can, so a cylinder full of whatever is on the shelf usually just works.
