Coast PTX30R 500 Lumen Weapon Light

Coast's PTX30R puts 500 lumens on the front of a pistol. That is a working number for a handgun light. Enough to identify what is in front of you inside a house, a garage, or a shop without washing out a close range wall and taking your own night vision with it.

A weapon light is a different tool than a pocket flashlight. It points where the gun points and it stays with the gun, so there is no second object to find and hold while your hands are already busy. That is the whole argument for mounting a light instead of carrying one, and it is why output on a gun light gets judged differently than output on a flashlight.
