Cimarron 1858 New Model Army 45 Colt 5.5" 6rd Revolver

When metallic cartridges took over, many shops converted old cap and ball revolvers. Remington went a step further and began building its New Model Army as a cartridge gun. Cimarron's 1858 New Model Army is reproduced from an original in the Cimarron collection and built for modern shooters, here chambered in 45 Colt with a 5.5" octagon barrel and a six round cylinder.

The solid top strap frame is what set the Remington apart from the open top Colts of its day, and it gives the gun a stiff, durable feel. The forged steel frame is color case hardened, the barrel is blued, and the two piece walnut grip fills the hand. An ejector rod clears empties one at a time through the loading gate. Fixed sights follow the original pattern. At about 42 oz it balances well and keeps 45 Colt recoil in check. It is a good fit for Cowboy Action shooters who want something other than another 1873, reenactors portraying the late Civil War and postwar years, and collectors of Remington pattern revolvers.
