About the Bergara B-14 HMR 22
Bergara's HMR sits between a hunting rifle and a competition rig, and the stock is what makes that work. A mini chassis is molded into the synthetic stock, giving the action a rigid bedding surface instead of relying on epoxy or pillars alone, and the barrel floats free of the forend from the recoil lug forward. The comb height and the length of pull both adjust, so the rifle can be set up for a large objective scope in prone or shortened for a heavy coat in a stand. QD flush cups are molded into the stock for a sling or a bipod.
The chambering is 22 Creedmoor, a necked down Creedmoor case that runs .224 caliber bullets fast and flat with very little recoil on the shoulder. That combination reads well on steel at distance and on varmints in a field. The 20 inch barrel keeps the rifle short enough to carry, and the muzzle is threaded so a brake or a can can go on without gunsmithing. A detachable AICS pattern magazine holds 5 rounds. Bergara makes its own barrels, and the B-14 action is the foundation the company's whole rifle line is built on, so trigger, base, and chassis options are easy to come by. The speckled stock finish hides handling marks better than a gloss.
