Auto Ordnance Thompson 1927A-1 SBR 45 ACP 10.5" 20/50rd Rifle

This is the Thompson design that made the name famous in the 1920s, built here with a 10.5 inch barrel and sold as a registered short barrel rifle. The operation is semi auto and it fires from a closed bolt. Frame and receiver are machined from solid steel and wear a blued finish, and the furniture is genuine American walnut, so the gun carries the mass and the look of the original instead of feeling like a modern tribute piece.

Sights are a blade front paired with an open adjustable rear. Two magazines come in the box: a 20 round stick and the 50 round drum that everyone pictures the moment they hear the word Thompson. Both feed the same closed bolt action. Between the 45 ACP chambering and the weight of a steel receiver, recoil is a slow push rather than a snap, and the gun tracks flat enough that fifty rounds go by in a hurry. The short barrel trims a fair bit of length off the standard 16 inch carbine, which makes the gun handier through a doorway and easier to store, and walnut over blued steel keeps the look of the original.
