Best performing 9mm "budget" hollowpoints.
This is the exact same round Winchester sold back in the 1990s as a premium defensive/duty load in red and silver boxes marked "Super-X Subsonic," catalog number XSUB9MM. A number of law enforcement agencies, including San Diego, California PD and Cincinnati, Ohio PD issued this ammo for decades, and may still do so. By every account they've always been pretty happy with its performance when they've had to use it on the street. It's very consistent, expanding nicely even after four layers of denim and giving good penetration as well. Now, there's no sealant on the cartridges at all, if that matters to you. As it's not a bonded bullet, it's mediocre after passing through automobile windshields. As it is a "budget" round that doesn't always get the same QC as the more expensive stuff, you may want to inspect them for visible variations from normal overall length, or even check them with a case gauge. And some production lots are a bit dirty. But you could do much worse. They're better than half the high-dollar duty and defense ammo that costs double and more per round.
