Forging is how most AR-15 upper receivers get made, and it is what the majority of complete rifles are built around. Where a lot of uppers are sold with a bare finish, this one is coated, so the outside matches black rails and furniture without a separate trip to a finisher. The receiver is cut for the AR-15.
