Weatherby Mark V DGR 378 Weatherby Mag 24" Rifle
Weatherby Mark V DGR 378 Weatherby Mag 24" Rifle
Product Details
Weatherby's Mark V action was built for exactly this: cartridges too big and too fast for ordinary rifles. The Dangerous Game Rifle pairs that action with the 378 Weatherby Magnum, a round descended from the 416 Rigby case that hits far harder than its bore size suggests. A 24" barrel with a muzzle brake keeps the package manageable, and the Graphite Black finish over barrel and steel receiver shrugs off weather that would rust a blued safari rifle in a week.
The Mark V's nine lug bolt and short 54 degree lift are famous for a reason — fast cycling with a scope mounted low, and lockup strength with margin to spare at magnum pressures. Weatherby fits the DGR with a Monte Carlo fiberglass stock with a raised comb, which sends recoil straight back instead of up into the shooter's cheekbone and keeps the eye aligned through the scope for a follow up shot. The receiver comes drilled and tapped. Brown bear guides, African plains hunters, and anyone stepping up to true magnum territory will recognize this rifle as a purpose built tool rather than a catalog filler.
