Weatherby Mark V Carbon Compact 25 Creedmoor 22" Rifle

The stock is where the Mark V Carbon Compact starts making sense. It is hand laid fiberglass with a raised Monte Carlo comb, finished black with brown, green and white sponge accents, and the comb is shaped to push recoil away from the shooter's face. Weatherby cut the length of pull short for smaller framed shooters and paired the stock with the lighter 6-Lug Standard Action.

A 22 inch BSF carbon barrel hangs out front, wearing the Accubrake DST directional self timing brake, and the metalwork splits its finishes: OD Green on the receiver and trigger guard, graphite black on the bolt, bolt knob and safety. The chambering here is 25 Creedmoor, the newest quarter bore and the one that finally gives a .257 bore the long, heavy bullets it was always short of. It shoots flat, drifts less than the recoil suggests it should, and stays civil over a long string of shots, which suits a rifle already set up to be easy on the person behind it.
