Weatherby 307 Range CSBR 22 Creedmoor Rifle

Weatherby's 307 Range CSBR is a bolt action rifle chambered in 22 Creedmoor. A rifle wearing the Range name is asked to do one thing well: sit on a bag or a bipod and put shots into the same place at distance. Bolt guns in that job live on consistency more than on features. A rigid action, a barrel that returns to the same point of impact once it warms up, and a trigger that breaks the same way every time will beat a longer spec sheet every weekend of the year.

22 Creedmoor is one of the fast .22 centerfires, a Creedmoor case necked down to take .224 bullets. It pushes long, heavy for caliber bullets quickly and flatly with very little recoil, so the shooter stays behind the scope and watches the hit rather than getting bounced off the target. Coyote callers and steel shooters took to it for exactly that reason. The speed costs barrel life, so most owners shoot it in deliberate strings and let the barrel cool between them. Factory ammunition exists but it is not a small town shelf cartridge, and a fair number of owners end up loading their own.
