This cleaning mat carries an exploded parts diagram of the Kimber 2K11 and measures 11 by 17 inches. That is enough real estate for a stripped pistol, a punch set and a can of solvent with room left over for the parts that come off along the way.

Padding runs an eighth of an inch thick, which takes the edge off a dropped slide and keeps springs and pins from skittering across a hard bench. The top layer is a soft thermoplastic fiber that shrugs off oil and water. Roll it up when the job is finished and the mess stays on the mat instead of on the kitchen table.
