About the Taurus TX9 Subcompact 9mm
The Taurus TX9 Subcompact is built on the Taurus Modular System, a serialized chassis that lifts out of one grip frame and drops into another. The same registered part can run as a full size, a compact or a subcompact depending on which frame it sits in. This is the subcompact configuration, in 9mm, and it comes with two 10 round magazines and four interchangeable backstraps in the box. The barrel measures 3.4".
The slide is alloy steel with a black nitride finish and is cut for the Taurus T.O.R.O. optic system, so a red dot mounts with the correct plate rather than a dovetail adapter. Sights ride in industry standard dovetails, which opens the aftermarket if the factory set is not to taste. The slide release is ambidextrous and the magazine catch is reversible, so a left handed shooter runs the gun the same way a right handed shooter does. The frame is stainless steel with a Picatinny rail for a light or a laser, and the trigger is striker fired. Optic ready, modular and small enough to carry, it gives up none of the chassis swapping the larger TX9 frames offer.
