The SOCOM RC4 is SureFire's answer to the low back pressure era: a 5.56mm can built to cut the gas blowback shooters have tolerated from traditional baffle stacks. Less gas back through the action means less debris to the face, faster follow up shots, and a rifle that stays cleaner over a long day. It locks onto SureFire's SOCOM fast attach muzzle devices with the quick detach interface military units have run for years, indexing to the same position every time it goes on.
The 5.56 bore covers 223 Remington through full power NATO loads, and SureFire rates the SOCOM line for hard use on short barrels where gas and pressure peak. At 1.5 inches in diameter it keeps a slim profile over the handguard sight line. For shooters running suppressed carbines in classes or matches, the reduced blowback changes the experience more than any spec sheet suggests.
