The Smith & Wesson Model 36 is the 38 Special that most other small revolvers get measured against, and this is the Field Ethos Tropical version of it. The cylinder holds five rounds, the barrel measures 1.875", and the finish is blued. It runs double action only, so every shot is one continuous trigger stroke with no single action stage to manage. That means the same trigger every single time, which is exactly what you want on a gun you might have to use cold, without a warm up and without thinking about it.

A snub 38 asks more of the shooter than a service pistol does, and it is worth being honest about that. There is not much gun to hold onto, and full power loads let you know they went off. Five rounds is all you get, and reloading one is slower than changing a magazine, so it is worth practising before you need it.
