147gr is the heavy 9mm bullet, and it behaves differently from the 115gr most people start with. It leaves the barrel below the speed of sound, which means less muzzle blast, a push instead of a snap, and a sight picture that settles faster between shots. Shooters running a suppressor gravitate to this weight for the same reason.

The hollow point is built to open at that lower velocity rather than needing speed to work. Scorpion loads it on new brass, which is what keeps recoil impulse the same round after round.
