About the Savage Axis XP 6.5
This is the left hand build of the Axis XP package, chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. The barrel is button rifled with thread-in headspacing, and the muzzle is threaded, so a brake or a suppressor can go on without gunsmith work. Ammunition feeds from a detachable 4 round box magazine. The stock is black synthetic.
Savage reshaped the bolt handle for this generation, and on a left hand gun that is the part a shooter notices first. It is larger and contoured for the hand, and Savage built it that way for control in rain and cold weather. The XP half of the name is the optic: a 3-9x40 scope comes mounted and boresighted from the factory, which means the rifle needs a zero confirmation at the range rather than rings, bases and a mounting session before it can be sighted in at all. Savage sells the Axis XP as an out of the box hunting rifle, and this one does that for a left handed hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor, with a threaded muzzle left ready for a brake or a can when the budget allows.
