Savage Axis XP 350 Legend 18" 4rd 3-9x40 Scope Rifle

350 Legend exists because several Midwestern states restrict deer hunting to straight wall cartridges, and it does that job with far less recoil than the old lever gun rounds it replaced. This Axis XP pairs it with an 18" threaded barrel, the shortest in the line, which suits a cartridge that burns its powder quickly and a hunter working out of a blind or a treestand where a long tube is a nuisance.

The rifle comes with a 3-9x40 scope mounted and boresighted at the factory. Inside 200 yards, which is where 350 Legend does its work, that is more magnification than the cartridge asks for. The barrel is button rifled and set with Savage's thread-in headspacing, and the muzzle threads accept a brake or a suppressor. A 4rd detachable box magazine feeds it. The stock is black synthetic with sling swivel studs and molded grip texture, and the reshaped bolt handle is easy to run with gloves on. Recoil is mild enough that a youth or recoil sensitive hunter can shoot it without building a flinch, and the short barrel keeps the whole rifle manageable in a confined stand.
