Savage Axis XP 30-06 Sprg 20" 4rd 3-9x40 Scope Rifle

The 30-06 has been the American all around hunting cartridge since 1906, and putting it in a 20" barrel does not change what it does. Velocity drops a little against a longer tube, but the rifle gets shorter and quicker in the hands, and the 30-06 case has capacity to spare. This Axis XP comes with a 3-9x40 scope mounted and boresighted at the factory, which means the rifle is ready for a zeroing session and not much else.

Factory 30-06 ammunition covers more ground than any other American cartridge, from 150 grain deer loads to heavy bullets for elk and bear, and one rifle handles all of it. Savage builds the Axis on a button rifled barrel with thread-in headspacing, which is how these rifles hold tolerances without hand fitting. The magazine holds 4rd and drops out for loading. The muzzle is threaded for a brake or a suppressor. The reshaped bolt handle is easier to run with gloves. The stock is black synthetic with sling swivel studs already in place. The whole rifle is built to be used hard rather than admired.
