The Axis 2 XP answers the first rifle question: what do I buy that shoots well and does not need anything added to it? It arrives with a 3-9x40 scope already mounted and bore sighted, so the only thing between the buyer and the range is a box of 6.5 Creedmoor and a target. The 20" barrel is threaded at the muzzle for a brake or a suppressor, and the receiver is drilled and tapped if the day comes to outgrow the included optic and step up to something with more glass.
What separates the Axis 2 from the original Axis is the trigger. The user adjustable AccuTrigger lets the owner set the pull where they want it and does it without the creep that made the first Axis trigger the part everyone replaced. The stock was reworked too, with a contoured pistol grip, ambidextrous palm swells, better texturing and an adjustable length of pull. Feeding comes from a detachable box magazine holding four rounds. In 6.5 Creedmoor behind a 20" tube you give up a little velocity against a longer barrel and get back a rifle that carries easily, which is the trade most hunters would take.
