Savage 110 Apex Hunter 30-06 Sprg Rifle

Savage builds the 110 around a floating bolt head and thread in headspacing, which is the reason the platform has a reputation for shooting well with no gunsmith work. The Apex Hunter takes that action, wraps it in a synthetic hunting stock, and adds the AccuTrigger so pull weight is set by the shooter instead of left where it came from the assembly line. The AccuFit system adjusts comb height and length of pull with inserts, so the rifle fits a shooter in a t shirt in September and the same shooter in a heavy coat in December.

Chambered in 30-06 Springfield, this one covers about as much North American hunting as a single rifle can. Ammunition runs from 150 grain bullets for deer up through 200 grain and heavier for elk and bear, and the cartridge has been in production long enough that ammunition turns up on the shelf of any small town hardware store. The barrel is button rifled and the detachable box magazine drops free for quick unloading at the end of a hunt. It is a working rifle, built and finished for hunters who care more about where the bullet lands than about how the stock looks.
