The Ruger-5.7 is Ruger's answer to the 5.7x28mm pistol market, built around a secure-action fire control, a tilting-barrel locked-breech design, and a 20-round double-stack magazine. The 5.7x28mm round delivers flat trajectories, low recoil, and high magazine capacity in a full-size platform — a legitimate option for high-volume range use, duty-style carry, and home defense where capacity and hit probability matter more than raw energy. This variant wears a Desert Night Camo slide finish over the standard black polymer frame for a distinctive look.
The 4.9" barrel is factory-threaded on some configurations (check MPN suffix), and the slide is cut for the Ruger Reflex optics footprint for direct-mounting a compact red dot. Controls include an ambidextrous manual safety and reversible magazine release, and the Secure Action trigger system provides a consistent pull with a very positive reset.
