About the RCBS 400 Legend 3-Die
RCBS builds this three die taper crimp set for straight wall cases, and this one is cut for 400 Legend. The steel sizing die sizes the case and knocks out the spent primer, the expander die opens the mouth enough to start a bullet and puts a small flare on it, and the seater seats the bullet and applies a taper crimp.
Two working notes from RCBS on the set. The sizing die is steel rather than carbide, so cases need lubricant before they go in. And the seater applies a taper crimp rather than a roll crimp. Between the three dies, the set covers every dimensional step for the cartridge apart from priming and charging.
