RCBS 1776 Commemorative 45-70 Govt Roll Crimp 3-Die Set

RCBS put together a limited run of its full length sizing die sets in the calibers that have carried American service rifles and service pistols through 250 years. This one covers 45-70 Government, a straight walled rifle cartridge with a service history behind it. It is a three die roll crimp set, which is what a straight walled case wants: the roll crimp rolls the case mouth into the bullet cannelure and holds it there against recoil in a tube magazine and against the shove of a heavy bullet under load.

The dies themselves are the same time tested RCBS tooling reloaders have run for decades, packed in the conventional plastic die box. That box then sits inside a commemorative wooden case carrying 250th anniversary logos, so the plastic box stays on the bench where it belongs and the wooden one keeps whatever you want to put in it.
