PROOF Research PR15 PXT 223 Wylde 14.5" 1:7 Carbon Fiber Barrel

PROOF starts with a match grade steel core, turns it down thin, then wraps it in aerospace carbon fiber. The finished 14.5" barrel hangs like a pencil profile but sheds heat like something much heavier, which is the entire argument for a carbon barrel. Take a pound off the muzzle end of a carbine and the way it points changes immediately.

The 223 Wylde chamber runs 5.56 NATO and 223 Rem without giving up accuracy to either. PXT rifling is the newer piece: the lands start nearly straight at the breech and accelerate through the bore, so the bullet is eased into the rifling instead of slammed into it. Less engraving force means a throat that erodes slower and a barrel that shoots well longer. Mid length gas keeps the impulse civil at this length.
