Pelican builds the Elite coolers the same way it builds its cases, and 30 quarts is the size that covers a weekend for two or a couple dozen cans on ice. Two inches of polyurethane insulation and a freezer grade gasket around the lid are what hold cold for days instead of hours.

Press and pull latches open with one hand and stay shut when the cooler is bouncing around in a truck bed. The lid carries molded cup holders and a fish ruler, a stainless bottle opener is built into the body, and molded tie down slots let it get strapped to a boat deck or a rack. A tethered drain plug handles the meltwater without the cap going missing.
