Kent's Diamond Shot is harder and more highly polished than standard lead, so more pellets stay round on their way down the barrel. Round pellets fly straight, and that shows up as a tighter, more even pattern at the 35 yard mark where most upland birds get missed.

A 1oz load of #6 in a 2.75" 20 gauge hull is the classic pheasant and grouse pairing: enough pellet weight to fold a rooster, enough pellet count to still fill a pattern out of a small bore.
