Christensen Arms Ridgeline Safari Plains Game 7mm PRC 22" Rifle

7mm PRC is the modern answer to the 7mm Remington Magnum, built around a case that feeds long heavy bullets without stuffing them down into the powder. Christensen puts it in the Ridgeline Safari, which is the walnut stocked version of their carbon fiber barreled hunting rifle. The 22" barrel is stainless wrapped in carbon fiber, hand lapped, free float, and threaded, and a radial brake sits on the muzzle to keep a magnum honest for a hunter who has not shot one all summer.

What separates this rifle from the rest of the Ridgeline line is the stock. European walnut in a traditional profile puts real weight and real shape in the hands, and the added mass in the butt settles the rifle down more than a synthetic stock of the same length. QD sling cups are set into the wood front and rear, and there is a Picatinny section on the forend for a bipod or a tripod clamp when a shot comes from a sitting position across a canyon. The stainless receiver is drilled and tapped for Remington 700 bases, and a TriggerTech trigger breaks the shot. For open country hunting where the shot might be 200 yards or 600, this is the chambering to have.
