Charter Arms Boomer 44 Spl 2" 5rd Revolver

The Boomer answers a narrow question: how much cartridge will fit in a revolver that still disappears in a coat pocket. Charter's answer is 44 Special, five shots, on the large frame with a 2" barrel and a fully shrouded hammer. There is nothing to catch on a coat lining during the draw, which is the entire point of a hammerless design in a pocket gun. Charter left the sights off as well, so the gun is meant to be pointed rather than aimed, at the distance a snub nose revolver actually gets used.

44 Special is an old cartridge and an underrated one. It pushes a heavy bullet at moderate speed, so it hits hard without the sharp blast and wrist snap a 357 Magnum produces out of a two inch tube. Factory loads run from soft lead target rounds to modern defensive hollow points, and the cylinder swings out for a normal reload with a speedloader. The frame is stainless steel under a black finish, the grip is a compact rubber unit shaped for concealment rather than bench comfort, and the revolver weighs 24 oz empty. Controls amount to a cylinder release and a trigger. Point, press, repeat.
