BSF Barrels 338 ARC 12" 1:8 AR-15 Barrel

A 12 inch AR-15 barrel from BSF chambered in 338 ARC. Hornady built the cartridge on a necked up 6.5 Grendel case, so it runs through a standard small frame AR-15 receiver but needs a Grendel pattern bolt and magazines to feed. What that buys you is a .338 bullet out of an AR-15: supersonic loads for hunting inside a couple hundred yards, and heavy subsonic loads behind a suppressor where the diameter really pays off.

Twelve inches is short even by 338 ARC standards, which puts it squarely in pistol or short barrel rifle territory. The cartridge burns its powder in a hurry, so a short tube costs less here than it would on a conventional rifle round, and subsonic loads barely notice the difference at all. The 1:8 twist covers the heavy end of the .338 bullet range.
