Browning X-Bolt 2 Medallion SPR 270 Win 18" 4rd Rifle

The X-Bolt 2 Medallion SPR pairs Browning's second generation X-Bolt action with the kind of wood most hunting rifles gave up on twenty years ago. The stock is gloss finished walnut with rosewood caps and the receiver is gloss blued with scroll engraving. SPR is the short barrel treatment: 18 inches of sporter contour barrel, threaded at the muzzle and wearing a radial muzzle brake.

The short barrel is the point of the SPR. Eighteen inches keeps overall length manageable in a truck, a blind or a treestand, and it gives back the inches a suppressor adds once one gets threaded onto the muzzle. The X-Lock scope mounting system uses four screws per base instead of the usual two, which takes some of the guesswork out of holding zero on a rifle that gets carried and knocked around. The receiver comes drilled and tapped for it. Four rounds ride in the magazine. In 270 Winchester the rifle covers everything from pronghorn to elk without beating the shooter up, and 270 has been quietly doing that job since the 1920s. This is a hunting rifle that looks like a hunting rifle, which is getting harder to find.
